The Canada Tree – Calgary

Came across this photo of The Canada Tree at our show in Calgary.  This was the first year we hit the road and did shows that summer in Calgary, Vancouver, Winnipeg.  Thousands of stories and conversations exchanged with people from all over the world.

Tyler had a little “slip and fall” incident sometime around 2am on some playground equipment adjacent to our space on the night of set-up.  One of those little rocking numbers on a spring.  Due to facial lacerations he did local media spots the next day from the top of the tree.  In the coming weeks he would throw me through a window at our apartment.  We sure knew how to have a good time.

THE CANADA TREE is where I cut my proverbial teeth in regards to wood working.  I had the great pleasure of working and touring with a brilliant Canadian artist, Tyler Aspin, from 1998 until his untimely death in August of 2001.  I continually draw inspiration from his work and our friendship.

The Omen Project

The Omen Project is a series of temporary urban art installations.  Each will address a societal issue of interest.  The sculptures will be available for the public to acquire on the day of the installation.  More to follow.  This is a work in progress.

The first in the series is called “Toll for the Oil”.
